Introduction: ODD (Obsessive Dog Disorder)

Hello everyone! My name is Allyson but I usually go by Ally among my family and friends. I come from Ponca City, Oklahoma and I have two younger brothers 17 and 14. I have a boyfriend of almost three years, his name is Camron. We have two cattle dogs together on red full blood and one blue mix. I would describe myself as slightly obsessed with these dogs, I answer yes on all those Buzzfeed quizzes that show if you are overly attached to your animal. They live with Camron in Ponca City and I always love getting to go home and see them.
My major is Communication with a minor in Human Relations. I hope to find work doing something along the lines of event planning or sales, I love working with and around people. My dream job would be to plan concerts for a big event center such as the BOK in Tulsa or the Chesapeake Arena in OKC. I love music and working with all the artists that come through would be a dream come true.
Along with my love of music I am obsessed with watching movies. You can almost always catch me at the Redbox. I try to watch as many as I can because I love being able to share my opinions on them with others and see how they do at the award shows. I will watch pretty much any genre of movie, but my least favorite are foreign and Sci-Fi. For these genres it must start out really good to hold my attention for the whole film. Some of my favorite movies are the Notebook, the Bounty Hunter, Grease, and the Paranormal Activity series.
I also love sports. I was a cheerleader and soccer player back in my prime and now I enjoy watching my brothers carry on the athletic legacy in football, basketball and soccer. Football is probably my favorite sport to watch, I keep up with college football and watch as much NFL as I can but do not keep up with the rankings really until playoffs. I have never been to an NFL game but I hope that can be checked off my bucket list in the new future.
My hobbies include fishing and shooting bows with my boyfriend along with refinishing furniture and making wall decor. I love to take old items and create them into new pieces whether they be functional or just for looks. Camron swears if I bring anymore "junk" to the house we are going to be called onto the show Hoarders. This doesn't keep me from attending all the craft shows and going into all the thrift/antique shops I can find. I have an array of projects to be completed over spring break so I will be sure and update you guys with some pictures!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my life! I hope you enjoyed it!

P.S. Here are some pictures of my dogs that you may or may not find adorable. The red is Axle (2) and the blue is Bandit (1). All of these are personal photos take from May 2014 to January 2016.

  1. Hi Ally, my name is Claire! it is so great to meet you! I am just like you in the fact that I am obsessed with my dog! Seriously, sometimes I think it is a little too much but then I remember that I think it's totally fine! Your pups are just adorable and I bet really fun! Your dream to plan concerts sounds absolutely amazing and such a good time! I love concerts so thinking of setting one up sounds fun but also like a lot of work, which can also be fun as well! Also, when you said that you love thrifting and craft shows, I was so relieved because I do too! Over the summer here in Norman I went to the flea market every weekend to see if there was anything new! I went there so much that they started to recognize me, and I actually became friends with a few of them! I say keep on going with that hobby because there is so much cool stuff in this world that people don't notice that have a lot of hidden beauty when used in the right way!

  2. Hey Ally, my name is Patrick! I thought it was weird that the first person I clicked on to comment on their blog had a dog because I have a 3 year old Golden Retriever named Chance who I do not know how I would live without! I have always grown up around dogs, golden retrievers specifically and have always wanted one of my own so sure enough I went and bought one my sophomore year and the rest is history! Many people had doubts about me getting a dog in college but i can honestly say it was the best decision i have ever made and I would go back and do it all over again!

  4. Hey Ally, my name is Austin! It's nice to meet you! I think it's so cool that you want to plan events for the BOK Center or the Chesapeake Arena, that would be an amazing job! I'm obsessed with all types of music and try to go to as many concerts as possible! Also, your dogs are adorable! I'm waiting to get my silver lab and I can't wait to post pics of him! I currently babysit one of my friends puppies all the time and I love him so I can't wait for one of my own!

  5. Ha ha, Ally, you got my attention with ODD of course... and cattle dogs are such a great breed! You and your boyfriend must have so much fun with them. They are both so cute! Maybe you can make some memes with them and they can become famous in this class anyway. And of course there are wonderful dog legends from all over the world: it could even be a Storybook project. Axle and Bandit could be part of the Storybook: anything is possible when you are the storyteller! :-)

  6. I love all the dog pictures! It's also so cool that you know what your dream job would be. I know plenty of jobs that I would love to do, but I can't say that I have one dream job like you do! I played soccer as well back in high school. Some days I miss it, and some days I'm happy to have some free time and to not be sore every other day during the season!

  7. Hi Ally, I am Carmen. I really like the photos of your dogs! I had a dog myself back in Elementary school when I lived in Colorado.

I used to keep up with OU football, but I cannot say that I've ever payed any attention to the NFL. The Superbowl would be coming up, people would talk about the teams by name and I would ask who they were. People looked at me like I was crazy, haha.

  8. Hey!
I'm sure you know the saying a dog is a mans best friend! I also love dogs and am so hurt that I had to leave my puppy back at home in Idaho. She is a border collie, blue heeler mix. We did everything together.

I am also pretty into sports I transferred here from a community college in Kansas where I was on a soccer scholarship and got to play. I'm not really sure what I was thinking when I decided to not play anymore.

I am also pretty into crafts. Especially taking old things and making something new form them. If you know of any good craft fairs I would be really interested in hearing about them! I am new to Norman and Oklahoma so I don't really know where to go.

Good luck this semester with everything!

  9. Hi, Ally!
I am also a dog person. I think your dogs are so cute! That's nice to be able to go home and see them often. Mine lives in Fort Worth, and I miss her so much while I'm at school!
Event planning sounds like such a fun and rewarding job. I think this would be great considering your love for music and working with people.
Your hobbies are very unique, which I think is awesome! I wish I were more talented when it comes to crafty things like making wall decor.
    Good luck with your semester!

  10. Hi Ally, I love that you titled your Intro Obsessive Dog Disorder! I love dogs and I hope to have a blue healer some day after I graduate from college. I have three cats and a dog back home so I totally understand when you say that you are overly attached to your animals! That is so exciting that you want to plan events some day! I hope you become very successful with that. Well, I look forward to reading some of your work for this class, and it was nice to meet you!

  11. Hi Ally! I'm also super obsessed with dogs! I have a corgi mix and a Boston Terrier back in Dallas at my parents' house, and I always love going home to see them! Your dogs are adorable. I really want to get a puppy after I graduate in May! I also am really into sports. I absolutely love football and I played softball growing up so I try to watch as much OU softball as I can! Your refurbishing hobby is so cool. I wish I could do stuff like that but I'm not super crafty and I feel like it wouldn't turn out how I want it to. I'm hoping I can get better at it by the time I move into my own house!

  12. Hi Ally! First off: your dogs are ADORABLE--and I can totally relate with being obsessed with your dogs, because I have a dog at home and basically I spend way too much of my time bugging my mom for pictures of him. I also really love movies as well, also Sci-Fi is one of my favorite genres. It's awesome that you love to plan events--logistics are the bane of my life, so I'm totally impressed by people who can orchestrate those kinds of things, and who don't mind getting people to work together on projects. My major is anthropology, so I love working with people too, but they drive me kind of crazy when we're all supposed to have a goal and they're not cooperating...

  13. Hey Ally,

I mean isn't everyone obsessed with dogs? Haha, they are everyone's best friend, right? They are the best! I am right there with you regarding music, it is a passion I have. I love music so much! I also really like movies, my favorite genres are Comedy, Action, and others. I think it is really cool that you want to work and plan big events for the BOK Center or Chesapeake Energy Arena, that would be really fun! I hope your semester is going well!

  14. Hi Ally!

Oh my goodness, your puppies are so cute! How could you not be obsessed with them? I love that you seem to know exactly what you want out of life and you are going after it. That is so great to see! I hope you have a fantastic semester full of music, movies, archery, furniture, and puppies! I look forward to reading your stories.

  15. Your dogs are to cute!! I am obsessed with my puppies too so I understand the feeling. I love that you re-purpose furniture. I live by HGTV and have always been interested in home remodels or repurposing, so I will have to look more into that when I get the time. Some of the movies you mentioned are my favorite movies too, I like a little of everything.

  17. It’s nice to meet you Allyson! I am a dog lover too; I have three miniature wiener dogs that I got when I was twelve. I also love watching movies and tv shows, but my favorite genres are comedy and action. I haven’t ever been to an NFL game, but would really like to go at some point in my life. I grew up a cowboys fan because I’m from OKC and they are the nearest team.
